Zero Signal in Mortal Kombat. Yup, that's what did it for me, too. Never looked back.
Nikolas Addonizio 24 декабря 2018 года в 21:38
Yep! That soundtrack was killer. Went to the theater to see it and I loved zero signal during the Johnny Cage and Scorpion fight. Got the soundtrack, discovered FF and never looked back.

Why can"t you guys just smooth things over with Christian and Ray? The original lineup was the absolute best FF lineup. I don't think the new drummer even compares with Ray.
Lost Khajiit 04 декабря 2018 года в 03:37
He's a 1 trick pony that put more asses in seats and sold more albums than Hoglan has, pretty neat trick if you ask me.
charvelgtrs 04 декабря 2018 года в 03:32
+Lost Khajiit LMAO, Ray is extremely one trick pony. Gene Hoglan is one of the greatest metal drummers of all time.
Lost Khajiit 04 декабря 2018 года в 03:17
Ray steps all over Gene Hoglan, and the literal Drum Machine they used on _The Industrialist_ (no live drums, all programed), and Mike Hellar. As far as Christian coming back, yeah if you'd rather have had him playing bass instead of Byron Stroud or Micro Tank Abbott.....I mean Tony "All must be black but my socks which I pull up to my knees" Campos, get your head checked mate.
aleclitvinov 23 октября 2018 года в 21:32
@charvelgtrs ray is one of the best drummers i've ever heard. i also think it's the deliberately limited playing (or singing) style of each musician that makes demanufacture and, to a lesser extent, obsolete so great. everyone uses just a few techniques which sound perfect together.
Steve Miller 12 августа 2018 года в 17:34
Hoglan even told Ray he couldn't do what Ray does...Ray is FF and so is Chris...1/4 owners...Lets bring back the Core FF
Gabriel Martins 03 сентября 2015 года в 18:04 26
About the closing message: I wish every fan realised how much buying an album means to a band. Even if they don't get a penny from the album sales themselves - which is rare, it shows the band has a dedicated audience. That turns into record deals, tours, endorsements, etc. Without those things, more and more musicians have to have a second career that cripples the music making, or just give up on making music entirely. A lot of people still have the 80's image of the millionaire rockstar, but most musicians actually struggle financially. Even some big names.
Nick1814 28 марта 2016 года в 15:12
+Gabriel Martins (Inconfident) I was just at a FF show in Dallas. I was happy to see how many people were wiping them out of t-shirts at the merch booth. I bought one myself.
Gabriel Martins 22 декабря 2015 года в 13:34
+Emper0rH0rde But, as I said, even if they didn't, it helps them get other professional deals, including tours. Also, a lot of bands these days are fully independent.
Ruben T 21 декабря 2015 года в 21:04
+Gabriel Martins I see. That makes a lot more sense. Somebody once told me bands/singers make zero money from album sales, that it's the *record labels* that make money from album sales, and the only money the artists make is from ticket sales.
Gabriel Martins 21 декабря 2015 года в 20:59
+Emper0rH0rde It's rare for a band to make zero money from album sales. Basically, record labels are like banks, loaning money for recording the album and promoting it. Until you pay the loan back, you don't get anything. After that, it's usually a percentage.

I don't have the exact stats on this, but it's what I've heard from multiple sources.
Ruben T 21 декабря 2015 года в 04:05
+Gabriel Martins (Inconfident) It's rare for a band to not get a penny from the album sales, or it's rare for a band to get a cut of the album sales?
Jimmy Parker 21 декабря 2017 года в 15:37 5

Burton's voice occassionally cracks, becoming slightly higher pitched, but that's relatable to all the screaming.

Avarice 27 ноября 2015 года в 11:29 7
To what BCB mentions at the end, it sucks so many fans lost their shit over Transgression. I was a fan since Demanufacture. I still like Transgression, in its own way. I love Contagion, Millenium (yes, i know its a cover), and Moment of Impact. i know the rest isn't particularly every FF fans cup of tea, but it didn't deserve the backlash it got.

I'm sad they don't even sell it on their site anymore. It's hard to find now, really.
Archetype gets shit on a little bit too. Not as bad, but people still hate on it, because of a few latter-half songs on the album. Slave Labor, and Cyberwaste though... Drones, and Default Judgement... fucking amazing songs.

Anyway. Pointless rant over. I hope to see FF for a third time again soon.
StrikerUSS 18 декабря 2017 года в 15:45
Two year old comment (I'm new to this band, few months since I first heard Demanufacture), but I'll still reply

Archetype is in my view in the top 3 (can't decide between Obsolete or Archetype on the 2nd spot, Demanufacture always 1st!) of FF albums. I do not really like Digimortal and Transgression is not that typical, but still better than Mechanize and The Industrialist. I really enjoy Genexus, although lack of Ray and Christian is noticeable.
revivedfears 12 декабря 2015 года в 20:28
+Avarice You can pick Transgression very easily on Amazon and Ebay. It's in no way rare.
Nick 03 сентября 2015 года в 18:36 6
I missed the chance to question, but here, will you guys update the setlist anytime soon? I mean, besides 2 or 3 songs, you usually play the same songs and I understand, they are all classic songs, but as I see it, you have enough material already to change the setlist and take out a few of the classic songs and switch for some that are really interesting, and by this I mean the song Obsolete, you have never played that song, it's a sick tune and to see the drums played live for that one might be something cool to look for. You dropped Scumgrief a long time ago, I would love to see it back in the set list, Acres of Skin might be switched for something like hurt conveyor for a change. You don't play Controlled Demolition, why? WHY? and so on, there are so many things you could switch and still make a helluva great setlist.
Doom Guy 02 февраля 2016 года в 23:12
+Nick Caveman I would love to hear this as a setlist one day...
01. Shock
02. Zero Signal
03. Big God/Raped Souls
04. New Breed
05. Dielectric
06. Hi-Tech Hate
07. Digimortal
08. Linchpin
09. Slave Labor
10. Mechanize
11. Recharger
12. Autonomous Combat System

Industrial Discipline
 Fear Campaign
 Final Exit
 Church of Execution
What Will Become
 Escape Confusion
TrulyStucker 09 сентября 2015 года в 15:06
+Edu Lopez they play more, it depends on tour/bill, etc, standard headlining setlist - 15 songs.
Edu Lopez 09 сентября 2015 года в 03:37
+TrulyStucker awesome! sadly, they play only 10 songs now in the shows, so I would prefer the following ones:
Autonomous Combat System
Freedom Or Fire
Industrial Discipline
Suffer Age
TrulyStucker 08 сентября 2015 года в 11:55
+Edu Lopez not bad, how bout this one? I would kill to hear this setlist.
Big God & Arise Above Oppression
Depraved Mind Murder
Dog Day Sunrise
Slave Labor
Hi-Tech Hate
Autonomous Combat System
Self Bias Resistor
Expiration Date
Lost Khajiit 04 декабря 2018 года в 03:19 2

I'm listening to Expiration Date right now. This song is awesome. Almost brings me to tears. We all need to look at the person we are with right now and say I LOVE YOU. Then look in the mirror and say I LOVE YOU. We are not going to be here forever. Tell your wife, your husband, your kids, your friends, Hey I love you You mean something to me. I'm glad we have made it so far. This song should go down as one of the ALL TIME GREATS. I believe Mr. Bell put his soul into this one. Yes, they have other great songs with meaning. I have ALL of them but, WOW this one hits like running into a wall. Like the song says "We don't live forever" so if you love someone tell them how you feel and let them know that they are loved. PEACE AND LOVE TO EVERYBODY READING THIS. Thank You Mr. Bell and Mr. Cazares for a great song.

I really hope these guys stick around for at least a few more albums and make them just as good as Genexus. It's amazing how he can still scream like he does at his age.
Lost Khajiit 04 декабря 2018 года в 03:25
He can't still scream, watch any live performance after 2002. There's a lot of digital trickery involved on the albums to help his voice period. He did it to himself with the pitch changes between growling, screaming, and singing.
Nick1814 23 сентября 2016 года в 02:35
very true
Ravoren 20 сентября 2016 года в 22:08
It certainly is when you destroy your vocal chords for 20+ years. Some 30 year old singers can't hit notes they previously could from screaming so much.

I saw Fear Factory while stopping in Houston last Friday at the Scout Bar.  The band was Amazing!  The new album is Wonderful... I heard it at a vinyl listening party with the Lights Out.  The song "Expiration Date" was so beautiful; I cried and finally understand that we must open our minds up to the possibilities that man cannot exist without some type of robotics.  Because under the surface they are "Living Dreams."  I thank Fear Factory for being visionary leaders and the only True Messengers that will lead us to think of the possibilities of our 'Genexus' from Earth as we know it... demonite0429 27 июня 2017 года в 19:37 1
This may get lost in the comments, but I am gonna type this out anyway... I became a Fear Factory fan back when I was a teen, hearing Martyr on cassette. Yeah, I am that old. I have many albums, DVDs, and even the original logo tatted on me. I have seen FF numerous times, once in Rochester NY a long time ago, and I almost broke my leg to show Dino my tat. Got a \m/ and a guitar pick from him and it made my night to say the least. No matter what happens in my life, even after over 2 decades, FF still is, and always will be my favorite.
DifferenceEngine 11 октября 2017 года в 08:59 1
I just re - bought every special edition digi-pak by FF coz my old ones are too thrashed now. I swapped a brand new pair of $190 Nike basket ball shoes for my first Demanufacture album from my brother when I was about 12.

That's the 4th band I've heard in live Q & As that's said no one wants (&/or buys) DVDs or Live DVDs anymore. I'm sure that in the future when everyone gets tired of online EVERYTHING many will want to go back to DVD/CDs so they can see it when ever where ever they want (can't get great or descent signal/connection everywhere still) without paying or waiting for the download or whatever(&/or tolerating with the static &/or connection problems & malware/spyware/adware/virus'). Unless the internet becomes nearly free, decent, without any chances of digital "infections," & everywhere somehow.

D.S. Park 23 сентября 2016 года в 09:43 1
It's not the same without the other guys!

I grew up on the "Archetype" lineup as a kid, I'm disappointed that Raymond Herrera, Christian Olde Wolbers, and Byron Stroud don't ever want to work with Burton again, due to bad blood.
Lost Khajiit 04 декабря 2018 года в 03:36
Dino and BCB fucked over Ray and Christian majorly by "restructuring" Fear Factory to exclude them. They basically started a new band and named that new band Fear Factory Legally (Notice how much Dino and BCB talk about having good lawyers in this interview ? It's because those lawyers helped them fuck over Ray and Christian) so they never needed to fire Ray and Christian nor did they need their permission to record and release another FF album (Mechanize) using the FF name, because legally it was a completely new band with the old name and 2 original members.

DifferenceEngine arkaea was a supergroup btw Threat Signal and FF(Ray and Christian).
DifferenceEngine 11 октября 2017 года в 09:05
I believe Christian and Raymond started a band called 'Arkaea'!
Avarice 27 ноября 2015 года в 11:32
+add37j They haven't been a part of the band for years now.

BCB wasn't happy with some things Ray and Christian were doing, so they all split, and Dino returned. They more-or-less hire touring/session musicians to fill bass/drum duties, and handle all of the recording themselves.

The name Fear Factory essentially belongs to BCB and Dino now.

There were only a select group of bands I was into growing up, especially where I’m from a small, isolated town that was a little behind. Such as seeing new movies or getting new music. Nothing was more exciting then looking at one small shelf of cd’s come in or a new hit parader magazine.
That being said, I’m still discovering older bands and Fear Factory is the one right now. I’m a bit older so appreciating a lot more and nothing is better than finding the old stuff but especially if they are still producing music.

Jean Franco Zarate 23 декабря 2018 года в 19:04
Soul is an underrated beast of an album, but production wise is terrible, I think they don't have the energy and VOICE (Burton at this point is wasted live) of the 90's, or early 2000's, however the most heavy thing that they manage to pull out in the new era is Mechanize
Glorious_Dominator16 15 мая 2018 года в 17:22 0

Fear Factory has been one of the few bands that I have continued to track for the past 20 years. I know that I won't be the oldest fan that Fear Factory has, seeing that my first purchased album was Demanufacture (1995). I agree with the some of the other fan-base that Transgression wasn't the best album, regardless, I still looked forward to every new album that came out. Personally, Fear Factory did it right with Genexus. It has some ingredients from the older albums, which makes this album great. Kudos to Burton and Dino - I will remain a fan for life.

I wanna see an album akin to Remanufacture.... I love it when they take a "techno" turn on metal
revivedfears 14 декабря 2016 года в 09:17
demonite0429 you're totally right, remanufacture was surprisingly popular outside the metal scene. I actually remember meeting a few people back in the day who had no idea fear factory were a metal band despite being really into 'burn' when it got released as a single in europe. I have no clue how popular that style of techno is these days but it was massive, way bigger than metal, back in the 90's. I doubt FF really have the budget these days to do cool shit like remix albums and stuff though.
demonite0429 08 сентября 2016 года в 08:33
I would like to call bullshit on that one. Metal is harder to sell than techno, granted. But techno, even with a metal background would be easier to sell. My younger brother was a wigger in HS, hated metal, but loved the songs from Remanufacture and played it during warm ups for his sport and everyone loved it... in redneck central.

Honestly, its hard enough for them to get people to purchase their normal albums, much less a remixed album. It just wouldn't be worth it for them.
demonite0429 07 сентября 2016 года в 06:07
Ah yes, I am aware (seeing as I have the albums)... But I would like to see a full album of said material again.
charvelgtrs 06 сентября 2016 года в 21:05
They kind have been doing that with their bonus tracks from their most recent albums.

You got too many ass-kissers, Dino! Maybe I should tell you that you suck! Just kiddin...let me lick a boot, too, by saying that I couldn't deny FF's influence on me. Thanx.

Dearest Fear Factory! The only vinyl pressing organization in Canada is located in Calgary, Alberta - with newly refurbished equipment. One of the studios located therein touts "the perfect raw recording room direct to vinyl" I challenge you guys to record a one-off specialista LP at Canada Boy Vinyl - the only reason I'm even saying this is because I love Fear Factory so damn much!
