+LordwolfFurry No. It really was. No one at Knebworth had an inkling it would be the last time. The fact no one knew they were supposed to press record makes it even more sad.

They're all great
Belinda Melville 31 декабря 2018 года в 00:25
+TheLambertLover think Marc and Adam are amazing singers....but we need to see if either of them have a movie made about them nearly 30 years after they pass. Or if one of them can write a song that becomes the most streamed of their century. Maybe they will but until then their just very good singers
Le Monde de Chris 29 декабря 2018 года в 07:09
+TheLambertLover Freddie was able to sing on 4 octaves. To give you an idea (because I bet you have no idea at all of what it means) its like you take a C on the piano, and the 4th C higher. Not everyone is able to do that, especially conserving his power in the voice. Now, it means Freddie was able to go out of his natural range ! He could sing songs he was scientificaly unable to sing ! While Lambert sings in higher key, but in his natural range, which is not difficult for him.

So no... Even if its higher, Lambert doesnt do something more difficult because he doesnt force it. Freddie was always going further, pushing his limits and giving extraordinary performances, so he has all the honour.
If you Say "so Freddie was forcing so he has less capacities and Lambert does something more difficult" you understood nothing. To tell you. Imagine Freddie as an average guy, trying to dunk with a basketball, this guy could jump 4 times higher than others, so he's doing something hard, pushing limits, when Lambert is a giant NBA player. He can dunk easily, but has no more merit since he was born that way.

Btw, excuse me, but Brian May Linda has to say that... I don't think he thinks one second Lambert is a better singer than Freddie.

I know you wont change your mind because you must be a fan of Lambert, which is fine, but when I know scientists studied Freddie's voice to call it "most beautiful voice ever"... Well I have to yield.

The stamina has to do with health and age. Freddie in his younger days was dynamic but lost it during his life, and dont say "origina key" talking about Lambert version. Freddie sang it in the original key. Lambert was just more confortable singing higher once again because of his natural range. Freddie was able to go low and high. When Lambert certainly have troubles going low, that's why he sings in a higher key, once again, less difficult.

.(sorry for my english, Im french)
TheLambertLover 29 декабря 2018 года в 02:03
+Le Monde de Chris Tell that to Brian May who said Adam is the most extraordinary singer he's ever heard and has more stamina live than Freddie. So why didn't Freddie sing the songs live in the original key if it's not more difficult?
Le Monde de Chris 27 декабря 2018 года в 08:43
+TheLambertLover It's not more difficult. If you think it is, you know nothing about singing.

I don 't usually write Youtube comments but felt the urge after weeks of coming back to this video again and again. This is the most powerful version of this song I've seen/heard and I just can't stop revisiting it. It takes me to another place. Freddie's voice is so raw and filled with emotion, pushed to its searing limits, full of volcanic power yet so dynamic. I read that this night he was on the edge of breaking down due to being unwell and was told not to go onstage by his doctor, but the show went ahead and you can see he gives it everything he's got. He inhabits the song so perfectly, and being below par physically seems to have only pushed him to defiantly deliver an even greater performance than his usual amazing level. Freddie aside, the band's sound is enormous and the backing vocals flawless. Brian's guitar tone is monumentally huge this night and perfectly compliments the power of Freddie's delivery; sadly, on every other live performance of this song I can find he chooses a cleaner and in my opinion more anaemic sound. This would certainly be near the top of my moments to visit if I ever got a time machine...

Personal favourite moments:

2:12 (every instrument and Freddie's voice come together into this spine tingling crescendo of pure energy)
2:48 (no singer I know of could physically deliver an ounce more emotion and raw power than Freddie delivers in this section)

TL;DR? Simply one of the greatest rock performances by a front man ever. Even unwell, Freddie beats everyone else by a country mile.

okay; here's the deal; I'm not in general a big fan of Queens type of music.. Whatever you want to call it..stadium rock, poprock, softrock. Whatever. I'm a jazz, rnb and soulbuff myself. My favorite artist of all time is Prince. And I have seen him live many times.. However, there is something truly spectacular with Freddies performances that is just unmatched... In my opinion he is one the most complete entertainers the world has ever seen...right up there with MJ, Prince and Stevie. Truly a legend...

I've never seen or heard a performance from Freddie that wasn't 100% passionate. Even if his voice was shot, or he was feeling terrible, he performed at an awe inspiring level. I get chills just thinking about the music, and then to see and hear it all. Thank God, Freddie's music and performances were captured so well. Some of the greatest performances you could ever hear are on CD, and Blu Ray. Roger and Brian have done an excellent job in keeping his legacy alive. And it's not a same shit, new release deal you get with other big acts. I can't say the same about the inclusion of Adam Lambert, but at least they aren't trying to say he's a replacement. The same with Paul Rodgers, who I actually thought did a damn good job on the Queen catalog as well as his own songs. Back to Freddie, I don't think I ever saw Freddie where he seemed terribly sick of a song. "This is what you want, this is what you're gonna get!"
Harry Strong 25 августа 2016 года в 16:39
After Freddie's death John only performed on 3 more occasions with Queen, finally retiring in 1997. Freddie's death hit him pretty hard and I don't think he really stays in any kind of social contact with Brian or Rodger anymore.
EyeShotFirst 20 июля 2016 года в 22:30
John sort of bowed out of the whole thing. For a while he went to a strictly business role, now I think he's left it all completely.

The manliest gay ever!
neuralmute 18 октября 2018 года в 02:01
Sexuality's a spectrum, not an either/or! These days, Freddie would most likely identify as pansexual, meaning someone who's into men, women, and everyone in between. He was definitely very attracted to men, and used a stereotypically gay look, but he often said that the greatest love of his life was Mary Austen, who was definitely a woman. And whoever he was into, it's all cool. He was brilliant, and beautiful, and we love him, right? Hell, I'm a bit more to the lesbian side, but I'm still in love with Freddie!

Rev. Kaelene Lord 03 августа 2015 года в 11:45 42
When ever I listen to this song, I can feel the silent tears leave my eyes, and by the near end when Freddie breaks his voice in that tremendously emotional part, I find my fist clenched and rising  to the sky, feeling these words come from the 'every-man' in me. The voice is Freddies, but at that moment for anyone that has ever heard it, it comes from within them, too.
The tears this time are not fully from what I have described above. In this world right now, things are getting a little crazy. We know that physically, we can not live forever, but 'forever' feels appropriate. Any amount of time we have; whether that is tomorrow, 10 years, 150 years from now; it would 'feel' like forever if we could start thinking of each other as a miracle. Stop the fighting. Stop the God-Concept as being 'money'. Wouldn't a handshake be better than a slap?
When the world heard this song for the first time, It was in, awe. The second time, it's gut got tight. The tears also started about this time. The third time, 'we' were the song. While we sing the song, we look out at a world that has become, 'nuts', we are tempted to scream out. Seeing everything that is at stake. We want to tell the Earth,"...to stop wasting it's time." We did then, and we do now. We still want to live forever.

The first 2 minutes of that song is untouchable by Freddie Mercury. He makes it his own, power, presence and just on another level to let you know he’s their. Outstanding and indescribable how good he is as a front man. No one comes close to him and never will. One of a kind.

i've got sore throat just by listening to him, goddamn how he screams all the time :3
Pierre Kirby 27 февраля 2015 года в 21:56 19
Amazing artist , he just leaves me speechless. His energy , passion and voice are unmatched. This man is a legend. It's a shame i was too young back then to appreciate his music.

The vocals on this are insanely good. Sensational

Freddie Mercury could make a grown man cry with that voice....
John Mangiantini 13 августа 2016 года в 09:38
He has.  I do every time I hear it and I come back often.
Gobbo McFalls 21 сентября 2014 года в 22:59 29
Fkn unreal. First time seeing this. Greatest thing I think I've ever heard with these two ears. I don't say this lightly either. This is really the most amazing thing I've ever heard in my life.  Not tryn to sound like a "old music was better" person either. This is unreal (to me). There may be better, but this is my cherry popped in music.
Ilppo Niemelä 25 мая 2018 года в 12:37
The scene in Highlander the movie, when Connor MacCleods wife slowly fades away with age and dies as the immortal Connor can only helplessly watch it happen, always made me cry and not least because the scene was set to this beautiful masterpiece of a song by Queen.
hlrepet 26 января 2015 года в 03:48
I second that.

If you've never seen Highlander you should watch the scene with this track. You will love it even more.
Nicole Jaen 05 июля 2016 года в 13:52 9
Usually, I put youtube and I get to work, but when I hear Freddie sing is impossible not to look at it , see Brian play that guitar, so awesome !!!
John Mangiantini 13 декабря 2015 года в 09:20 11
I know I have already been here before, but I caught yet one more detail.  Brain May wrote it.  It is like he wanted Freddie to sing his legacy, like he knew what was about to happen.  Since Freddie's death he has said he knew.  Maybe this was Brian giving him what no one else could.  It is amazing no matter the  motivation.
Freddie Mercury 02 ноября 2018 года в 23:17
Wrong. Freddie wasn't confirmed HIV positive until 1987, although There might have been rumours and speculations before then. I think Brian said in an interview that Freddie told the band about his illness somewhere around 1988 or 89.
neuralmute 11 августа 2018 года в 19:45
It might have been on the Highlander soundtrack, but Freddie had already told the band that he had HIV by then, I believe, and they'd strongly suspected it for quite a while beforehand. Brian definitely had Freddie in mind when he was writing this.
Calum Steele 05 января 2018 года в 04:43
Brian wrote it for the Highlander soundtrack. But yes, it becomes a more poignant song when listening now.
Maryann Decker 05 февраля 2016 года в 06:20
+John Mangiantini This is the year when he found out that he was HIV+. As he is singing this beautiful song it sounds like it was coming from deep within his soul. There is no one like Freddie...he was a gift from God..for us.

Ok, I can understand the amazing comments about Freddie and everything, but why are there no comments about Brian's incredibly beautiful guitar solo? Just that powerful opening chord, it's breathtaking!

The Queen resurgence is killing me -- I mourned the passing of a legend 28 years ago, it feels like I'm doing it all over again. What a beautiful man.

+ProjectGenesis Oh, I like lots of stuff from almost any music genre, except rap, hip-hop, disco and techno.
It is funny that I' ve watched about 120 - 140 animes, but only some are memorable. ;)
And lots of anime friends like metal and rock, lots even using rock and metal songs in their AMVs.
Queen is very special for me, it was one of my first rock band I' ve listened to, in my teens.
And now I' m almost 30.
It will always be special for me.

I love how Roger and Brian do the backing vocals of the refrain, but start after Freddie starts and finish before Freddie finishes, because they just can't hold the notes for that long. they are good singers, but can't compare to Freddie when it comes to vocals.
