Very smooth. They couldn't really just copy the 70s sound of the original with that carnival keyboards sound everyone was using in those days. Had to update it a little, change the arrangement a bit. I like it. This is more serious and mature sounding. They improved an already great song.
Keith Mcmahon 20 июля 2015 года в 02:44 4
Sounds great! Great live album! Sad to as its Chris's last tour. Maybe we could get last year's Nyc Radio city show done the same as this package. I'd get it and that was indeed an outstanding show! RIP Chris.

OK, I am a profoundly pro-Jon Anderson fan, and I thought this Jon was terrific.
I have a hope that gradually, as the founders or elder Yes players age, they will bring talented young 'YES' songwriters and musicians into the band, so that, in a most unusual move for rock, the band called YES, with the philosophy of YES will always be. Imagine YES as being a Symphony orchestra. Just because the first conductor moves on, or the first violin (concert-master) leaves, the orchestra still exists.
This music is important culturally, artistically, and I think should stay very much alive. The passing away of Chris really cemented my feelings about this.

+Morris Spick Anderson with this age were unstopped. This guy have a lot to go because he is not gifted like the others. I think we might get there one day but it takes time. To be a YES member you really have to be good, but we are talking about gifted persons, they are out of scale, they make the rules. Just see the path of any element. Even Trevor Rabin have explode to his best potential when he join the YES

+freetv6969 freetv6969 no i talk seriously I prefer his voice to anderson voice.
freetv6969 28 сентября 2015 года в 01:07
+Morris Spick you must be crazy IMHO need more age to get there Anderson is a gifted like Kate bush, Peter gabriel, so on. Please never do this again. Just put this voice to sing SOON and you will see it.
Morris S. 26 сентября 2015 года в 10:35
+tim weatherill It's not Anderson but it's excellent. IMHO better than Anderson voice.
Lilyana Malmqvist 14 декабря 2015 года в 03:58 3

Pretty decent Yes tribute band here...oh, what's that? This is the original Yes? yaaaa, not without Jon Anderson, it's not...
donutcookiepie 15 августа 2017 года в 23:45
I love all Yes videos. All are masterpieces, regardless of the year.
Emmanuel Guzmán 15 августа 2017 года в 18:18
Then go watch some "original Yes" videos.
donutcookiepie 25 мая 2017 года в 02:27
The original Yes ceased in 1970. Get used to it.
Steve Smith 07 июля 2015 года в 17:47 3
Looking fwd to getting this, have ordered the cd/dvd & the vinyl! Bless you Chris Squire.
paul elliott 25 июня 2015 года в 00:17 9
Can't get used to Jon not singing
Miss Rick too
But pretty good and the playing in fine although lacking a bit in depth
Can't help wonder if a few more musicians might help 'fill' the sound more
Still, damn fine for all that the more I listen
Morris S. 21 августа 2015 года в 14:14 3
Jon Davison excellent, amazing voice.
donutcookiepie 25 мая 2017 года в 22:29
True Morris. If nothing else, the human voice will change, in some way, with age, as Im sure u know. Interesting observations on your part. I can't say I disagree.
Morris S. 25 мая 2017 года в 09:17
Hear Anderson voice in the first albums of Yes and compare it with 90125 or latest albums. It seems his voice had a depth sound he lost subsequently replaced by strident tones. Hear close to the edge or starship troopers and compare them with owner of a lonely heart as example. (I noted this because I took the latest yes albums before their early albums). The early Anderson voice was amazing for his depth able to match both depth with his natural high tone (making its sound not strident but agreeable). Obviously Anderson is Yes official part of the group in the imaginary of fans as other iconic members.
donutcookiepie 25 мая 2017 года в 09:06
I've never heard anything which sounds like falsetto to me from Anderson. But, voice is not my primary instrument so I could be wrong. Davison's natural range seems to be a bit higher than Anderson's is currently. That's an asset to him and to the band. Also, the leader aspect is a very important one. Davison is not and does not want to be and the band loves that about him. Davison probably does have room for improvement as he's only been singing for about 10 years. But, of course, he has a good depth and length of musical experience in general.
Morris S. 25 мая 2017 года в 08:01
Anderson voice changed at the end of seventies. It is good in the first 4 album then it seems that he uses falsetto. He loses the depth of his voice going one or two tone over. Another problem on Anderson concerns with his acting as the leader. So resuming: voice of Davison appears to be stable and natural, Davison has a simple humble and spontaneous attitude. However in my opinion Davison voice can furtherly improve.
donutcookiepie 25 мая 2017 года в 02:29
yeah but Anderson is an asshole and Davison isn't. That's why Anderson will never be in Yes again but Davison is for years to come.
GreenerHill 01 апреля 2017 года в 19:31 1
Appreciate that Downes hasn't tried to "improve" the piano section, one of the best keyboard parts in rock. He plays it straight, and plays it well.
Lilyana Malmqvist 14 декабря 2015 года в 03:55 1
Amazing can't wait to see them live again. Wow.
freetv6969 28 сентября 2015 года в 01:08 1
Now, this sound like YES again
Steven Lornie 24 июня 2015 года в 13:28 2
I have all the respect in the world for these guys but that was pretty dull.
donutcookiepie 09 июля 2015 года в 23:21
+MissAstorDancer Squire wanted them to continue with Sherwood. So they are. Like all TRUE Yes fans, I will continue to support them. And I'm very much looking forward to the upcoming tour next month.
Daniil Lytovchenko 02 июля 2015 года в 20:17
+MissAstorDancer yes, in retrospective my best chance to see proper Yes live was back in 2004.

I agree.

Now, things were never the same since Jon left, and now......I cannot imagine a future Yes without Chris.

Jim Baugh 04 июля 2015 года в 14:57 1
Big Fan for 40 yrs. RIP Chris. But now, they are a cover band. No original members. With the exception of 90125, they sort of lost it after Bruford left. Never a White fan, and this guy singing does not cut it. Why don't they just stop now, because without Chris, I mean come on. It's a cover band. Give it a rest. DO they really need the money from touring??
Rafael Cama 04 ноября 2015 года в 14:04
+JIF882 Yes. Geoff has been back since 2011... unfortunally. I'm OK with Sherwood, but Geoff is not the right keyboard player for Yes (Oliver was one). JD is also not good enough.
Jim Baugh 22 июля 2015 года в 11:32
+Jim Baugh Of course it is all true, you can check it out if you want. Hey look, I am a fan! Love yes, but just not all their stuff and they have had peaks and valleys. But hey, not everything Beethoven wrote was great either. LOL My initial comment was born on the fact I was a little surprised they are still touring without Chris, and I was correct, there are no original band members left. Reflecting on it, I guess Yes is sort of like Kansas in a way. Kansas said they thought the band would still tour and play, even after all members are gone. Now, I am not sure what the difference between that and a cover band is. HAHA Funny but true. Since you don't know me you must understand I have a pretty big sense of humor. I think it is sort of funny these bands playing and the members are in their 70's. Come on, it is a bit of a hoot. Got to give them credit though, old Mic Jagger is still out there rockin hard! I could not do what he does and I am 20 yrs younger!! Godspeed. JB
donutcookiepie 22 июля 2015 года в 07:07
+Jim Baugh If that's all true, then it makes your originally posted opinion all the more mystifying. I'm not really sure what else to say.
Jim Baugh 20 июля 2015 года в 13:58

“ You have never been in a band” that was a pretty funny
line. Sorry, you are way wrong by a million miles. Seriously no disrespect. I
am a big fan just like everyone here. My comments were coming from a musical
perspective. I also know one of the members of the group. Yes I am a musician,
I founded an all original progressive rock group in the 1980’s that was akin to
the Dixi Dregs, Yes, Genesis, and also some Jazz influences. Yes I am degreed
in music, I have a BA in electronic music and a minor in piano and perform solo
piano concerts to this day. So my opinion about the current line up only comes
from a musician’s perspective. Wish them well, and very sad about the passing
of Chris, he was rightfully so a legend in Rock Bass. I will not comment any
more about this, it is amazing they are still touring and go support them and
enjoy the show. But if you think my comments about some of the compositions
since (or after) close to the edge were sort of, well, less than desirable.
Just listen to some of the interviews from actual band members, Wakeman, Anderson,
even Bruford have all chimed in one some of the disasters called Tales of
topographical Oceans, Union, etc. “They should of called the album Onion,
because every time I heard it I cried”-Rick Wakeman. These comments come from
the band members, not me. Lastly, always a fan but mostly of the beginning up
to Close to the Edge. 90125 and relayer also had some fantastic stuff. Yessongs
is still one of my favorite all time recordings. RIP Chris Squire.
donutcookiepie 20 июля 2015 года в 06:34
+Jim Baugh You know exactly what he means.
Derek Beauchamp 29 июня 2015 года в 18:10 6
They did a good job, keyboards were good.
Keith Mcmahon 20 июля 2015 года в 03:19
Keys sounded great I agree. I don't listen to these haters. I'd like to see them perform all the shows these guys did tour after tour and still be perfect.
THE REAPER MAN 14 октября 2018 года в 16:06 0
I can't stand Jon Davison's nasally voice. I wish Yes would turf him and bring back Anderson.
Paul Wellspeak Jr 18 апреля 2018 года в 16:27 0
Steve Howe may look old but his playing is ageless!!! Just amazing!!!
Jan Daeng 08 июля 2018 года в 23:23 0
but nobody will be same as Jon
Fritz 15 августа 2015 года в 15:49 0
Compared to more complex and difficult songs by YES, such as Close To The Edge or Heart Of The Sunrise, this tune works surprisingly good. I think that is mainly because it contains one of the "easier" solos by Rick, one of those Geoff can actually handle, Chris and Steve were still able to sing perfectly in tune and Davison is better in tune than David. Steve's guitar playing is still one of a kind, Chris' bass as well. RIP, great man.
Still, Alan White takes away all the energy, and I don't like Jon Davisons voice.. That's why I like the Tsongas version way better. Anderson was amazing in that concert.
great expectations 30 января 2017 года в 17:08 0
Darn, i wish i saw more of this particular tour, this is really good. With Chris Squire gone the earth has lost one of its great musicians.
