The reason people associate Heavy Metal with Satan is because many metal acts have used religious people's claims that they are satanic to get exposure(Black Sabbath, Slayer, Marilyn Manson), so it sells. Another reason is that much of metal's lyrical content is about impassioned self-motivation, which isn't copacetic with religious dogma.
If we're speaking culturally rather than religiously, I think that calling Heavy Metal Satanic would be *mostly* accurate- opposed to acceptance of outside control.

Esta es una de las pocas bandas alemanas que hacían buen Death Metal (de la vieja escuela) en aquel entonces. Felizmente pudimos escucharla acá en Ecuador. Su estilo es similar al de bandas de Death Metal de Florida (Estados Unidos) y de Suecia. Gran banda..! Saludos especiales desde Ecuador (Sudamérica). This is one of those few german bands which played good death metal (old school) in that time. Hopefully, we could listen to it here in Ecuador. Its style is quite simmilar to those either: Florida or Swedish Death Metal Bands. Great band..! Special greetings from Ecuador (South America).

I've always thought that a medium/moderately fast tempo always produced brutal "heavier" sounding metal. When you hear chords ring out, or groovy heavy riffing it sounds and feels like the Tower of Babylon is slowly crumbling, or that we the listeners are carrying megolithic boulders on our backs. Sure speed creates intensity and finesse, but it also steals away from that "heavy" "brooding" feeling.
