Kidd Kidd Presents New Warleans : Katrina 10 Years Later is a platform i’m creating to provide the real people of New Orleans a VOICE that has for too long be ignored.

I chose to release this 1st installment of New Warleans on the 10th Year after Hurricane Katrina hit being I knew all eyes would be on my city during this time.

Let it be known that I am here to continue the conversation of change in my city for far after this anniversary date is over.

We will not be silenced any further to the issues that are tearing apart my city. #NewWarleans

#KATRINA #New Orleans (City/Town/Village) #Kidd Kidd (Musical Artist) #rllnr #10 year

biggest regret is moving back to New Orleans after Katrina.....It was an easy place to live before. The cost of living is horrible compared to what it used to be now......very few people can save up enough to own a home....If you aren't making at least 40k or close to it a year from a job ,hustles, or combining salaries with spouse, you will not have a comfortable life here.
Meaux Argent 25 сентября 2018 года в 10:34
I'm from Laplace and I've noticed that a lot of people from the city are moving out here. That was before the storm, though but it's definitely picked up since the storm.

FEMA money? They think that's the way to rebuild? How about fixing the houses yourself? Humankind has been recovering from catastrophes forever. People fix it themselves. They have white students coming down years after Katrina working for nothing, white churches. Gees.

I am so glad I experienced the pre-Katrina NO. I was about to buy a house down there then. That culture won't be resurrected with gentrification

kid kid seems like a good dude shouts out to Louisiana and the people and families that were victimized by katrina in 05, to the people that judge their situation
you can't because if you lost everything or lost your family and displaced ,it would affect you mentally and emotionally for a lifetime. so I salute everyone that survived and got back on their feet in a better situation.

Seems like the government had an agenda to get rid of the residents of New Orleans and ship them out to different cities.
Kush Nu 07 февраля 2018 года в 15:58
That is what they tried to do but they wasn't expecting us to go to different cities and get killed but we from New Orleans all we know is it's us that's what we know we we going to protect us we going to click up and clicks and beat clicks and we go go against these other people if you're not going to welcome us with open arms then no we not going to do it like when y'all come down here it's is love like people show love down here but won't when they sent us two different states

I think what your trying to do is great. Keep your head up, don't stop, because the only way to make a change is for the younger generation to not only be educated but have role models like yourself telling the truth, but at the same time showing them a way out.

Christopher Willis 01 сентября 2018 года в 14:07 2
It was definitely more dangerous before Katrina than after. The city is barely even hitting 150 murders, before the storm we seen in the 200 and 300s plus easily every year. Now you can say it's just as dangerous bc you can be a victim at any time just like before but take away 2-3 times the amount of ppl that would make you a victim and trust me, it's less of a chance that you'll be a victim so it's safer now. Now those who mean the cost of living as being harder, then yes I agree. No jobs, expensive dilapidated housing and still more dangerous than most other cities. I went back but I left in 2010 and I'll remain a visitor until it changes for the better.
Marley Dont’Shootem 10 октября 2018 года в 22:11

You can chose where to go when you can pay for the travel and hotel. How can you stay poor in America. How can poor Indian people with nothing end up making the highest earning demographic in America. I agree things in the hood need to change. Single mother hood needs to end. Structure and the traditional family has to come back.

Jack Reacher 20 февраля 2018 года в 21:00 1
It's good what Kidd did with this documentary. I grew up inda 9th ward Desire 3002 Alvar apt C, graduated from Carver in 04. New Orleans always had this mystic and aura about it, but when it came to the economic value of living and making it successful has always been the issue. I'm 31, so I wasn't able to see New Orleans through the 70s and 80s so I can't give a honest opinion about the city then. I can look at my mama, uncle's, aunts and cousins before me and I can tell how much either the city didn't educate them enough or they didn't want to be educated. I love my City to my last breathe, but it never could offer me what I wanted out of life. After having my first child I decided to move away and haven't thought about going back to live. I visit my family at least 3 times a year. I felt my moving away would give my kids a successful path in life and in order for me to give them that I had to get out and be able to have opportunity to succeed myself.

Yes modern black man: Still waiting for handouts. Please just grow up already.
James Sluzewski 14 августа 2016 года в 05:10 1
I don't understand their argument. The hurricane wreaked an entire city and hundreds of miles surrounding it causing Billions of dollars in damages. But they're upset that repairs go priority to higher taxed area. Not like this place was creating much revenue for the city or the state. Places that don't create any tax revenue aren't that important. I remember they were selling houses their for a buck hoping someone would just pay property taxes maybe fix it up to section 8 standards at least. Think people in these neighborhoods would of took advantage of situation and invest in their own neighborhoods if it;s so important. No they're mad they aren't getting more handouts. I'm sure they find a way to hate white people but don't understand their own politicians are the one's stealing from them.
Mike Robinson 27 апреля 2018 года в 13:26
James Sluzewski that's a fair statement but not all the people want hand outs.
Keilin Guillard 11 ноября 2016 года в 22:41
hold up check it out I was still doing Katrina yes they were selling houses for a dollar and yes some people are paying 50 to $75 to live in the housing projects in New Orleans but now there is there are no more housing projects in New Orleans because of Katrina the old Calio Magnolia melpomene you're paying anywhere from 400 enough to live in housing projects some of these people who are paying the 50 and $75 on the low-income residents so they shipped him off to other cities to make it their problem expecially Houston Katrina was a blessing for the government of Louisiana because it got rid of the low class New Orleans which are 99.9% black African American men and women the only ones that came back 2 New Orleans was the ones who could afford to come back 2 New Orleans before Katrina one bedroom apartment cost you $500 now you're looking at 750 on depending on the neighborhood but it's not just like that in New Orleans in Metairie right across the Parish line and one bedroom will cost you $750 all utilities paid in low-income areas I stay in a low-income area and I barely can afford $900 a month for a 3-bedroom no I'm not on Section 8 and most jobs in New Orleans Metairie Kenner area does not pay you more than $10 a hour you do the math and if you have kids or pay child support plus utilities what do you have left to live on this is why the crime rate is so high in New Orleans Kenner Metairie area but I bet you if you look at the crime rate in Slidell or Chalmette which are predominately white areas I bet you you will see a difference do your research first before you criticize anyone who lived through Katrina
pentuplemintgum666 27 августа 2016 года в 23:18
I also hear the complaint that while "they" (mysterious people that are just supposed to take care of other people financially) are rebuilding, they aren't building 75$ per month rentals for crackheads and thieves to live there. Those two guys look like they have some money, why don't they help their community and patch up some roads? The government is corrupt when they attempt to solve murders and stop crime, but then the government is their daddy when they want their crackhouse fixed. Critical thinking was not used in the making of this video, and probably not in Kidd Kidd's life ever.

Me being from New Orleans I can tell you some were hard-working people and some were even family that were Home owners and lots of them couldn’t afford Home insurance /flood insurance in the lower nine w/d so yes they should help the gov help everyone else

Keilin Guillard White people work and support their families. White people pay taxes. Black people just take. Not only take but, not give shit back but, crime.
Keilin Guillard 11 ноября 2016 года в 22:30
we don't want a hand out I'm in the 9th ward and this place is still fucked up from Katrina if this was a predominantly white neighborhood everything would have been fixed already like when that hurricane hit the East Coast everything was fixed within a year or two now it's been over 10 years since Katrina and New Orleans is still f***** up I know because I'm a resident
Porsha Edmun 24 августа 2016 года в 19:15
how does it prove that ? WTF do you not know what FEMA is setup for? So the people in NYC/NJ only wanted handouts too after Hurricane Sandy ? STFU

D42n8 Guy 11 мая 2016 года в 03:30 0
Im sure it was extremelyyyy tough and easier said than actuality, but the guy said they don't help us, so we do what we do to survive (sell dope) that is NO EXCUSE for anyone, anywhere. During the times katrina wiped the city, i don't see a reason y u wld even sell drugs as u r in a diff situation, trying to relocate because norhing is left, but before katrina there were many business u cldve WORKED, even if it meant to clean toilets, BECAUSE THERE IS NOTHING WRONG W WORKING FOR YOUR FAM. PPL HAVE TOO MUCH PRIDE BUT NOT MUCH BRAIN. SELLING DOPE MAY MAKE U EASY MONEY, but for one u R POISONING YOUR OWNNNNN!!! And two, that shit is temp and whn u r caught, all that money u made will go to lawyer fees. Something to think about. Im from LA/ home of dope boys and gangs, but i find that wrong. If i spoke in mistakes, please correct me as i don't know much about the NO. LOVE!

So because someone ain't giving you anything, that's why INNOCENT people are getting robbed, raped, and murdered? Get the F outta here! Anyone that wants something given to them and not earned themselves, isn't much of a human being anyway! That goes for any race or Creed! By the way I lost almost EVERYTHING during Katrina, yet I stayed, rebuilt, and don't complain about it. Even with everything that's going on with crime, etc. Im still proud to call NOLA home, and am proud to earn my keep and not rely on others to support me!
