In retrospect, I really think Elliot was a tremendous fit for Tesseract. Shame it didn't work out.
Edward Malecki 19 сентября 2017 года в 04:54
Everyone has their own opinion, but the one live concert I went to where Elliot was the lead vocalist, i literally couldn't stand him. Like nails on a chalk board. I was so disappointed I literally left the show. I am so glad he didn't last long.

Ashe was the best one for this Band!!!
AAltered State will be the masterpiece.
My opinion :)

Shaun Couper I used to work with Elliot at Bed, Bath and Beyond in MD after he out of Tesseract. Really cool guy.
zealot027 21 июля 2014 года в 07:22 39
It's really a shame that more people can't get into Elliot's vocals. His voice is something incredibly special and beautiful. I'm sure I would've enjoyed Altered State far more had he remained with Tesseract. To each their own, of course, but I honestly think losing Elliot was one of the worst things that's happened to Tesseract's sound.
Heath2000 03 октября 2018 года в 11:39
Makes you wonder what would have been in place of altered state if eliot stayed in the band

invidia 27 ноября 2014 года в 15:12
At first, I really didn't like it. But then I started listening more and I got into his vocals and I really love it now. It is a damn shame they lost his vocals. I agree, he has a beautiful range.
He really brings out a powerful, yet soft ambient sound to this song and the rest of them. c:
TraceofHatred 30 октября 2014 года в 11:38
I have to agree, I like all three vocalists but I think Elliot might be my favorite.
Way larger range than Dan Tompkins, hands down - But not as whiny or pitchy as Ashe.
Emil Øster 24 февраля 2014 года в 23:33 24
Wow I never heard this 2.0 version before. Sometimes it's great to come to youtube and browse bands even though you have their albums, there truly are some gems :)

Amazing, but then original takes a giant swinging knock-out punch on this version
LittIefinger 18 июля 2018 года в 01:08
Whichever you heard first is likely the one you think sounds better.
Miguel Gutiérrez 05 июля 2018 года в 17:14
I wouldnt necessarily say that. They sound like two completely different styles. The clean vocals sound amazing but, tbh i slightly prefer the original. Not by a giant leap tho
7stringprogmetalguy 12 июля 2017 года в 17:36
Really? I prefer this version. Granted, the original had a "raw" feel that is lost somewhat here. I wish they'd do a definitive version that combined the best elements of the two.

Actually, I've always wished they'd re-record or at least remaster One, It's a great album but I feel like the production lacks a lot of the power of their later work.
Mushy 19 августа 2016 года в 18:23
They prob had a new style for the song and redone it like they did here
Icarus 15 июля 2016 года в 16:45

Diego Bernal 20 февраля 2015 года в 02:15 23
I think everyone of the singers have done a really great work, no matter the way and style. This is one of the reasons they are a great band.

First of all I love all the singers of TesseracT and all of their songs are magical. I love the original Eden too with Dan's voice but this song my god this song is something else. It's like a drug or something. I don't know how to explain it but this is something psychological. I'm listening this song for 3,5 years now. When I first discovered this song I downloaded it and played it over and over again thanks to auto replay. Everytime this song replays it makes me more depressed and dark inside. I'm pretty sure that I listened this song most than other songs and I listen a lot of songs. I don't know man this is something different. Only the ones who got caught by this song's magic can understand me I believe.

I don't think TesseracT should have videos because each song gives you a unique image in your head and this video just destroyed my image.
Homey Iommi 28 декабря 2017 года в 08:20
I have to agree. I hate when that happens. It's why I often shy away from watching the official videos for a lot of my favorite songs.
Hikigaya Hachiman 26 октября 2017 года в 06:37
The problem with the video for this song is that it is mere nonsensical imagery and bullshit that has NOTHING to do with the actual lyrics, just like what they did with Singularity.

+Samuel Adams Lmao
Asharpshooter96 23 декабря 2014 года в 09:57
If it destroyed the image you conjured then that image wasn't potent enough to withstand any others' imagination. It wasn't an image worth having. It should get you closer to the one you thought of instead of taking it away.

Souvenirs sustain life
Souvenirs of flesh and bone

Waste them all for wealth and gain
When the time comes you'll know

Machinery dredge the sea
All that's left is memory

All the time they lie to me
They suffocate
All the time
They're suffering

So when will it end?

It breaks my heart to watch
As we rip this world we have apart

Kill for pleasure
Seven wonders of our history
Endless pleasure
Satisfaction is reality
Careful pleasure
Seven wonders of our history
Empty pleasure

Machinery dredge the sea
All that's left is memory

Machinery bled the sea
You protect this misery

Machinery dredge the sea
All that's left is memory

All the time they lie to me
They suffocate
All the time
They're suffering

So when will it end?

This is my fave song off Perspective. I honestly didn't like any of the acoustics and the cover. Even though I think Elliot's a good vocalist i'm glad he left. Personally I think he didn't suit Tesseract. I like Daniel and Ashe equally

Insanely creative, and making it their own style... One of the few bands that isn't copying another. And no that was not a challenge to hate on Tesseract. I think we can all agree it takes bloody good musicians to come out with this orginal stuff, whether you like it or not.

halowaffles 25 июля 2014 года в 22:20 1
The vocal harmonies holding notes are annoying. They completely take away from the song with its unnecessary filler to make the singer sound full.
Claudio Robalino 08 декабря 2018 года в 22:28 0
esta versión esta bien hecha, aun que prefiero la versión original. La original es mas emocional, mas sentida.
Ytalo Ricardo 30 декабря 2018 года в 11:30 0
É uma baita musica, mas cagaram no clip quando botaram esse vocal, feião kkkkkkkkkkkk mil vezes a original!
Ethan A 17 сентября 2018 года в 04:44 0
This version slays the original in pretty much every way save for a few lead bits that were cut out as a result of the song being shortened. The production and the vocals are /much/ better and way more organic than the plastic that surrounds One. I see everyone agreeing that the reason that the original Eden is much better is because it has a more 'raw' sound. Yet they have no problem admitting that the pristine production that Altered State and Sonder put forth is awesome. If we would've had an album with singing and production like this, it would've blown both those albums out of the water.

Julien Perier – lead vocals (2004–2006)
Abisola Obasanya – lead vocals (2006–2008)
Elliot Coleman – lead vocals (2011–2012)
Ashe O'Hara – lead vocals (2012–2014)

Icarus 16 марта 2016 года в 08:53
+Tarkess Yeah, I remember reading that Ashe left due to "creative differences" and on good terms... Wasn't Dan having a kid or something?
Tarkess 29 мая 2015 года в 02:01
+James Jackson Lots of bands shop around members before their projects start coming together. The only singers they've actually had on any album or EP are Dan, Elliot and Ashe. I think Dan left because he initially wasn't really ready for the intense touring and dedication the band required. Elliot more or less just did the band a favor by touring with them and doing the acoustic EP after Dan quit since their label wanted one, and ended up quitting since he didn't really feel like he fit in. Seems like Ashe just left because he wanted to do something else, and it looks a whole like Dan is staying for good now.

I love this. Beautiful video very uplifting message-I saw it as this girls soul going through turmoil. He takes the light of her soul and feeds it to her. Basically don't let others take your light. God knows theres a lot of people who will try and take you down. Its a song of the struggle to not go down.

Pref classic version, new singer sucks.
Theodore Schantz 05 ноября 2014 года в 22:29
+Riley Anderson Its not that black and white dude, Dan, while I know is a professional-naturally talented singer, he lacks the proper voice for that particular song. Its not that he cant but that it doesnt sound right, he just doesnt have the tessitura that Ashe did. That is just my opinion though, I'm not stopping you from liking the song.
Riley Anderson 05 ноября 2014 года в 05:53
+Theodore Schantz You gotta realize that nocturne isn't dan's material, he just came in and is expected to perform it. it's immersing yourself in someone else material, you have to realize this and respect it.  it'd be like me going out and trying to preach about Islam, i'm not Muslim i wouldn't do a good job, i can immerse myself in the culture all i want but in till i truly connect with it it's meaningless. same prospective can be taken with music, if/when Dan truly feels he can connect to the song i grantee you notice a difference.
DrBrovahkiin 07 октября 2014 года в 04:02
+Theodore Schantz I look at it the same way I look at Periphery I and II. I is still one of my favorite albums but Spencer's voice is downright fucking annoying sometimes on that album. II was stuff he wrote and it was amazing. Same thing will probably happen here
Theodore Schantz 07 октября 2014 года в 02:19
+DrBrovahkiin Towards the end he got back in tune, but his voice is waaaayyy to thin and built for a slightly lower register that only pops into the high registers for power. Nah, noturne is never ever gonna complement his voice. However I may like his new album.
DrBrovahkiin 06 октября 2014 года в 19:29
+Theodore Schantz Dan stated the show everyone sees of him doing Nocturne he was having an issue with his in ear and the mix was really bad.
Delpifo 14 марта 2015 года в 13:09 0
im sorry but this sounds like a karaoke version of Dan's eden.
Jakub Zabłocki 20 июля 2015 года в 22:43
+Tarkess Hell yeah he did. I think hes a very good vocalist. Dan is just as good, but both have different styles, influences and so on...
Tarkess 29 мая 2015 года в 02:03
+Delpifo It basically is. Elliot didn't have a whole lot of input with the band and recorded this and the acoustic EP seperately from the rest of the band, and he wasn't really given any direction as to what the band wanted. That being said, I think he did a fantastic job all things considered.

Dan and Elliot has completely different style of screaming, I don't think it would've worked in Tesseract lol
Z 28 октября 2013 года в 00:39 0
To further elaborate on that analysis... I'll use Agalloch as an example. I don't like them, never did, never will. But I can still recognize their brilliance and masterful composing. There's my opinion... and then there's my impartial take on the subject.

Tesseract sound exactly like every other Djent band. They're not bad, by any means, but end up coming off as uninspired and formulaic. They lack a distinctive sound and their compositions have very little musical sensibility.
Z 28 октября 2013 года в 00:29 0
How much you like something has nothing to do with how good you think it is.Two completely different things.Lana Del Rey's debut album was my favourite album from last year even though I think it's average and wouldn't even rank it among the 50 best of the year.

And yes, there is no such thing as objective quality, but there are tiered consensus. No matter how much you may think that a 3 Ninjas movie is better than Citizen Kane, there's no amount of subjectivity that can help you defend that claim.
Johnathan Meili 27 октября 2013 года в 08:25 0
Yeah, I'd have to agree with you. I think TesseracT are an amazingly talented band who compose music that conveys ideas effectively, who cares if they use a 'formulaic approach'.P.S I listen to 'Portal of I' almost every day; that album is amazing :D
Planetary Pieces 26 октября 2013 года в 22:20 0
Then why display that attitude? I think I'm fully justified in my use of the word in this case.
You're taking the biscuit if you think just because music has a formulaic approach it's automatically bad or non-noteworthy. I can think of several artists who've written undeniably brilliant albums that use a mostly formulaic approach.
I've been listening to Ne Obliviscaris for around a year and a half now, I guess my taste is just different from yours and we'll leave it at that.

The words elitist and pretentious aren't self defense mechanisms you can just squirt out like a skunk everytime someone levels a criticism at something you like.

I'm not challenging the fact that they are skilled musicians, because they are, the kids pack a mean technical punch. But I wouldn't call them good composers. They're average. Go listen to Ne Obliviscaris' stuff from last year and compare it to this formulaic approach. Calling themselves progressive metal is an insult.

I don't think this band sounds like any other band period let alone any of the other "djent" bands that have been shat out of the wood work in the past 3 years. They're very skilled musicians.
You're right, Slayer, Metallica and Anthrax don't sound the same and neither do TesseracT, Periphery or Animals As Leaders.
Don't let your elitism cloud your vision so much.

The original version with Dan Tompkins is better in my opinion :)

Elliot has no problems sounding angry but he's a jazzy vocalist and likes to sing. Also listening to this song makes me sad he left Tesseract...

if U2 was a progressive metal band, this is exactly what they would sound like.
