======= "Cliffs Of Gallipoli" SONG STORY =======
Tribute to the soldiers who died during the Battle of Gallipoli (WWI)
The Battle of Gallipoli was a campaign of World War I that took place on the Gallipoli peninsula between the 25th of April 1915 and the 9th of January 1916.
Intending to secure a sea route to the Russian empire, the allied forces (Russia, The British Empire and France) launched a naval attack followed by an amphibious landing on the peninsula with the aim of capturing the Ottoman capital of Constantinople. After eight months of fighting and more than 200’000 casualities on both sides, the allied decides to abandon the land campaign and withdrew the invasion forces to Egypt.
======= "Attero Dominatus" LYRICS =======
Hear them whisper,
voices from the other side
Hear them calling
former foes now friends are resting side by side
They will never leave our hearts or fade away
live forever
they were far too young to die in such a way
how many wasted lives
how many dreams did fade away
broken promises
they won’t be coming home
Oh mothers wipe your tears
your sons will rest a million years
found their peace at last
as foe turned to friend
and forgive
And they knew they’d die
Gallipoli
Left their letters in the sand
Such waste of life
Gallipoli
Dreams of freedom turned to dust
Hell is waiting where the ocean meets the sand
Cliffs of burden
where the soldiers rushed into a certain death
At the shoreline
Blood of heroes stains the land
light a candle
One for each of them who fought and died in vain
There is no enemy
There is no victory
Only boys who lost their lives in the sand
Young men were sacrificed
Their names are carved in stone and kept alive
and forever we will honour the memory of them
And they knew they would die
Gallipoli
Left their letters in the sand
Such waste of life
Gallipoli
Dreams of freedom turned to dust
Oh mothers wipe your tears
your sons will rest a million years
found their peace at last
as foe turned to friend
and forgive
And they knew they would die
Gallipoli
Left their letters in the sand
Such waste of life
Gallipoli
Dreams of freedom turned to dust

My God rest the souls of who fell at Gallipoli weather they be allied soldiers or it be men of The Turkish Defense Force.
""Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives ... You are now lying in the soil of a friendly country. Therefore rest in peace. There is no difference between the Johnnies and the Mehmets to us where they lie side by side here in this country of ours
You, the mothers who sent their sons from faraway countries, wipe away your tears; your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace. After having lost their lives on this land they have become our sons as well.""
ALL the soldiers from the Central Powers and the Allies are remembered with this gorgeous tribute song, that's why it says "as foe turned to friend and forgive" :'). Rest In Peace, human heroes of Gallipoli, your pain and suffering has not been forgotten :)!!

why are you in a video that is not related to your armenians?
I hope they respect us too.
It was the Brits pulling on the strings.
Respect for Turkish, British, French, ANZAC and other soldiers from other parts of British Empire.
Respect from Thailand.
Whats wrong with this? Dont mind if eu people hate us just for this.
Best part of the song
"You, the mothers who sent their sons from faraway countries, wipe away your tears; your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace. After having lost their lives on this land they have become our sons as well."
See the very human face of the greatest leader ever !! Regards from Turkey to all ANZAC countrys
can believe my great great grandfather survived ww1 came back had kids then ended up fighting in ww2 alongside his son and they both got lucky and survived
"You are now resting in the lands of a friendly country. Rest in peace. Mehmets and Johnnys don't differ for us."
"Mothers who sent their sons from far away lands, wipe your tears. Your son now rests in peace in our hearts. With losing their lives in this country, now they are our children too."
-M.K. Atatürk

Fısıldamalarını duyun
Öteki dünyadan sesler
Çağrılarını duyun
Eski düşman şimdiki dostlar yan yana yatıyorlar
Asla kalplerimizi terk etmeyecek veya solup gitmeyecekler
Her zaman yaşayacaklar
Bu şekilde ölmek için çok gençtiler
Kaç tane harcanmış hayat
Kaç rüya solup gitti
Tutulmayan sözler
Eve dönemeyecekler
Anneler göz yaşlarınızı silin
Oğullarınız sonsuza dek huzur içinde olacak
Sonunda huzura erdiler
Düşman arkadaşa dönüp
Ve affettiğinde
Ve onlar öleceklerini biliyorlardı
(Nakarat)
Gelibolu
Mektuplarını kumlarda bıraktılar
Tam bir yaşam israfı
Gelibolu
Özgürlük hayalleri toz oldu
Okyanusun kumla buluştuğu yerde cehennem bekliyor
Sıkıntının kıyıları
Askerlerin kesin ölüme koştukları yer
Kıyıda
Kahramanların kanları toprağı ıslatır
Bir mum yakın
Savaşıp boşa ölen her biri için
Düşman yok
Zafer yok
Sadece kumlarda hayatını kaybeden çocuklar
Genç adamlar kurban edildi
İsimleri taşlara kazındı ve unutulmadı
Ve her zaman onların anılarını onurlandıracağız
Ve öleceklerini biliyorlardı
(Nakarat)
Anneler göz yaşlarınızı silin
Oğullarınız sonsuza dek huzur içinde olacak
Sonunda huzura erdiler
Düşman arkadaşa dönüp
Ve affettiğinde
Ve onlar öleceklerini biliyorlardı
To knock the Ottoman Empire out of the war and to give the Russians the much needed supplies to help carry the war, but that all failed because of two things, one the ANZACs landed too far away from where they were supposed to land and two, they never had any back-up from the British of the French at the time. The entire campaign was botched from day one.
Respect again from the USA.
As a Turk I am really sad...
Loves from Turkey my Aussie brother.

cliffs of Gallipoli ( Gelibolu Uçurumları)

That's the nature of war. After the conflict has ended, there were so many mothers who knew their sons would never return, but the Mehmets declared that they WERE home, and were resting peacefully.

People should learn not to comment at things they don't know about it
LAST WE FORGOT
The Turkish commanding officer, Mustafa Karmal, said to his men “…. I do not order you to fight. I order you to die. Your deaths will buy time to bring up reinforcements. It did. The original Turkish defenders suffered 100% causalities repelling the invaders: the ANZAC (Australian New Zealand Army Corps).
The unforgetable lyrics send shivers down my spine: "...Oh mothers hid your tears. Your sons will rest a million years, as foes turn to friends and forgive..."
Humans are a barbaric animal where wisdom only comes to a few after many years.
Anzac Day is still a national holiday in Australia and New Zealand.
Hopefully, all the nations, ideas, and countries will take lesson from these "SUCH LIFE WASTE "s
As long as there is a shortage of supplies, there will be wars.
As long as there exists different nations, there will be wars.
So let's hope for more wars guyss..
I can only imagine, and what I do imagine is gruesome. I do hope that neither side had to endure the silent winds of death, nor its cold embrace.
What I do imagine, is what is sung in this song.
A black soil, infused with ash and smoke. A constant ringing and always a foot from death. The orders of the commander soon start to feel like pure hatred among the ranks of these men. Knowing your death is soon, and seeing others die in such gruesome ways. Wet and damp trenches, death lying in wait above. The stink of your friends and enemies alike.
Lest we forget.

But i suppose that Cameron could stop sending billions because we all know the people in need see none of that.
There is no way Westminister doesn't know this

If I am a Turk then you aren't.If you are a Turk then I am not.
World war one wasn't about saving the world from destruction. This is a song about the waste of life that was the Dardanelles campaign.
''Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives ... you are now lying in the soil of a friendly country. Therefore rest in peace. There is no difference between the Johnnies and the Mehmets to us where they lie side by side here in this country of ours ... After having lost their lives on this land they have become our sons as well.''
— Atatürk 1934

Lest We Forget.
Love from Turkey.. :)
DEFINITELY, one of Sabaton's best!
But still a great song from a great band!
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them
*Ottomans get defeated* in the siege of vienna against impossible odds / *"Glorious day, we kicked janissary asses, killed them all" (Winged Hussars)*
*Ottomans defeat* the allied forces in Gallipoli against impossible odds. / *"Sad day, young people died from both sides for naught :(" (Cliffs of Gallipoli)*
euro-centrism at its best
The situations in both of these wars were much different, first of all During the siege of Vienna The Ottomans were one of, if not the most, powerful nations in the world. They had build their massive empire on the conquest of other nations, what I mean by this is that they were very experienced in warfare, and had some of the brightest tactical minds of the time. That's why the siege of Vienna was such a glorious victory. During Gallipoli there where no "impossible odds" that the Ottomans overcame, they already had the advantage of being the defenders, and did it well to because after April of 1915, the Allies didn't make any more gains, so it's not like the ottomans pushed the allies back after having made huge gains. Also they knew the attack was coming and already had many defenses set up. They also had the benefit of being aided, by German troops, and officers. The major difference between the 2 battles, and most important reason as to why your wrong, is because the victory at the siege of Vienna basically decided the outcome of the war, while the reason that Gallipoli is such a tragedy is because so many people died, and it changed nothing but the wars death-count.
