Swedish progressive metal legends OPETH will release Garden of the Titans: Live at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on November 2nd via Moderbolaget Records / Nuclear Blast Entertainment. This historic event was captured for the DVD, Blu-Ray and Vinyl formats during their performance May 11th, 2017 at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Denver, CO. Both the DVD and Blu-ray formats include CDs containing the audio as well.
Video footage for Garden of the Titans was overseen by The Deka Brothers (CARPENTER BRUT, THE PRODIGY) and audio was mixed by David Castillo (KATATONIA, BLOODBATH). All versions feature the masterful artwork of revered artist Travis Smith (NEVERMORE, KATATONIA, TESTAMENT).

Sorceress was released in September 2016. As somebody who is old enough to have seen Black Sabbath as a teen in 1972, Opeth are the first band that I became to appreciate growl/harsh vocals. This transition in broadening my music tastes occurred via the Deliverance/Damnation albums. They drew me in with the prog and then hit me in the head with the heavy stuff. Love this band, so unique.

This is the first tune I heard by Opeth. I picked up Ghost Reveries because of Steven Wilson's involvement (I'm a huge Porcupine Tree fan), put it on and it blew my mind. Opened my ears to hearing the harsh vocals. We're of similar age, you and I; my tastes run from folk through bluegrass, jazz and on to hard rock, but Opeth was a revelation.

Impresionante! En este concierto todas las voces son absolutamente impecables. Puede que Mikael ya no alcance la profundidad de los growls de antes, pero el trabajo acá es genial! Además la segunda voz que hace Svalberg en todo el concierto es clave.

I think it's the best Opeth Live so far. Beyond the setlist or what Mikael does not yet reach the depth in the growls, as before, the execution in the voices is impeccable, as well as the mix of the sound, it is incredible. In addition the second voices that Joakim does give much more brilliance to the album.

He's getting there. Noticed recently that the live growls are becoming a lot more sinister again and I would love to see him doing it on the next album. Not often, that's not the direction they are going, but definitely sometimes.

This sounds so incredible!! Huge fan of the original studio recording, but the mixing on this and videography makes this really special. And the lighting design is gorgeous.

Mike must have done some vocal training for his gutturals cause they sound better than the recent past. He is probably doing it in a way that isn't shredding his vocals. I don't blame him wanting to preserve his voice for the clean singing but they just just aren't the same anymore. I would imagine it is kinda frustrating finally getting to this level then your voice goes. I still don't know why he wouldn't just get another vocalist to handle the screams.

I was actually going to comment that his growls sound weird... it's like he's doing a growl and trying to sing it at the same time if that makes any sense. Still fucking awesome 🤘

themike this isn’t over dubbed this is just properly mixed and mastered like a studio album. That’s why his vocals sound better. I saw them in OKC a few months before this tour and he sounded incredible. Even better than when I saw them in 2013.

Yeah, his vocals aren't what they used to be for sure, but the last two times I saw them (including this show) he sounded pretty damn good. Plus, they straight up told everyone that the audio from the show was not what you'd hear on the dvd

Jebo majku pa ovaj bend ce u grob da me otjera koliko ih obozavam. Vise bih volio da mogu sastavit bend poput njih nego novu Metallicu sa svjetskom slavom, stadionima i milionskim zaradama. Miki je malo oslabio sa growl vokalima jer se cuva za clean dionice, al s obzirom na playlistu i s obzirom na ovog rezisera i kvalitet videa moram kupit ovaj DVD. Ako bude imalo dobar kao onaj iz Albert Hall ja cu da budem na devetom oblaku. Btw u ponedjeljak mi stize must-buy-StevenWilson-AlberHall koncert!

As a drummer I can say the drumming is good. The original drummer for this song was fantastic (not saying this guy isn't), but it is very hard to perfectly play a song from another drummer. The drummer is still good, but obviously not as good as the original. Btw, check out some of my drum videos if you'd like!

When a 13 year old tells you he thinks beer is too bitter, you just smile, you don't loose time trying to explain him why it is actually excellent, so don't expect anyone here to convince you, you can only learn to love it by yourself :)

Growling needs a different mindset. You should not take it as vocals, but rather another instrument. Do not try to understand them too. You can try other bands that combine it with clean vocals like Theatre of Tragedy, Draconian, Eluveitie, Arkona and then Shrieking with Ensiferum, Wintersun, Epica...
Focus on the instruments only.
